On Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at approximately 3:10 A.M., Officers from the Redding Police Department took a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a white 1984 Chevrolet Blazer, had reportedly been taken from the driveway of a residence on Harpole Road in Redding.

At approximately 4:20 A.M., Redding Police Officers observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Oxford Road, just north of East Cypress Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled south on Victor Avenue and east to the dead end of East Cypress. The vehicle smashed through a cable barrier at the end of the paved roadway and became disabled in the greenbelt area between Goodwater Avenue and East Cypress Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, 28 year old Howard Selig of Redding, was arrested without further incident.

Selig was later booked at the Shasta County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, felony evading, and for committing a new felony while out on bail or own recognizance for a previous felony.
